"Nothing is ever without sacrifice. To spend a penny is to lose money. To walk a mile is to use up energy. To shoot a gun is to consume a bullet. To save a life is to lose another..." --Ginko

    Name: Ginko Mutorashi

    RolePlayed By: -Ginko~

    Age: 43

    Species: Human

    Faction: Nightstalkers

    Elements: Earth, Water, Wind

    Appearance:

Ginko has white hair and an unearthly green eye (his left eye is covered constantly by his bangs after the attack in his early life), and has been like this ever since he was a child after he was affected by a mushi.
He also wears more modern clothes compared to other characters, by wearing slacks, a button up shirt, and occasionally a trench coat.

History: When Ginko was 11 years old, he was found by a woman. This woman he refuses to talk about under any circumstances, thus making Ginko's early life much a mystery. This woman classified herself as an Alchemist Master who had the same white hair and green right eye as Ginko did. Before the accident involving Ginko's right eye, Ginko was a very outgoing, upbeat boy, and even as a child he could see the world as a means of a quest, to restore order and life to the wasted lands of the world..

While walking through the mountains with the odd woman who found him, that he now at this point considered his mother, a wrong turn was taken, and on the strange road they continued down, Ginko and his mother were jumped from many different angles by raiders and bandits, whom killed his mother, and nearly killed him. It was at this point in his life, that Ginko discovered he held the powers of the elements to bind at his will as his mother did, and the first element he had control of was the element of Earth. Upon accidentally discovering his born powers, Ginko had taken control of the Earth under the raiders and bandits, and made the ground consume them in a slow and painful process.. And once they were all completely under the ground, they were then crushed from Ginko suddenly releasing his hold over the Earth, the mass of the earth around them closing in and collapsing on their bodies, crushing them to a pulp.
After these happenings, Ginko collapsed at his dead mother's side, his left eye bleeding from being stabbed out by one of the bandits before Ginko could summon forth his power, and thus his eye was shut tight in pain, while his right was the same case, but was shut tight from the pain of the uncontrollable tears that trailed his cheeks. He did not know what to cry more about, the pain of his eye, or the death of his mother...

For many days, Ginko traveled alone. After burying his mother and attempting to unskillfully bandage his eye, he wandered aimlessly. He had no idea where he was going, and at the age of 11, he hardly had a good sense of direction, or even knew what to do in a situation such as his own. After days of wandering, Ginko had finally exhausted himself. And after making a misstep, he found himself tumbling and rolling down a hill, crashing into bushes and branches until he found himself motionless and numb along an abandoned back road. He laid there for what must have felt to be hours, slowing losing consciousness, and before his eyes closed, he witnessed a very old looking man approaching, a long white robe draped over the man's shoulders and a white beard hanging down to nearly his ankles, an old, warped wooden cane in the man's hands as he made a slow approach toward Ginko's body. Once the old man approached him and attempted to ask a question, Ginko was already too far out of it to understand the man's words, let alone answer them, and before he knew it, Ginko had passed out.

At least three weeks later, Ginko had awoken from his seemingly eternal slumber upon an unknown bed to him. Though he was bandaged and connected to some medical machines, he was not in a hospital. He found himself looking around in a fairly fancy, and well-managed room of fair size. Ginko examined himself, brushing his hand across his left eye that was once bandaged, but was now covered by his bangs, his empty eye socket simply sitting behind his bangs. He looked around to use something to cover it, and found a simple eye patch resting on a nightstand to his side. Ginko grabbed it and put it on, and made his slow attempt to get out of the bed.
Once his feet touched the floor, the door to the room opened, and Ginko was now standing on top of the bed, ready to attack whoever walked through. The old man had stepped through the doorway, and closed the door behind him. He stared at Ginko for a time, before simply advancing into the room, pulling up a chair and sitting into it as he simply stared at Ginko. Not a word was said for several minutes, once again another time period that must have felt like hours. Finally, the silence was broken by Ginko as he asked where he was, and who the old man was. He was met with an answer to both questions; "You are in your new home, and I shall be your master, commander and in time, perhaps even your mentor... But until then, you will be training with the rest of the rookies.." -- The old man had spoken these words, and Ginko was puzzled yet angered by the unclear answers he was sadly expecting... He attempted to charge out of the room, but was met with the old man's cane at his feet, causing him to trip and plummet to the ground. Ginko slowly collected himself, as his injuries began to cause him pain again from the fall, and he slowly faced the old man, who was now standing, slowly walking toward Ginko, but only passed him and made his way toward the door. "Your training begins tomorrow. Try to get some rest in the meantime..."

After 26 years had passed, Ginko had mastered nearly all the elements. He would have mastered the element of fire by now, but something made him incapable of manipulating the element the way he did the others. As such, Ginko had all but one under his command, and he seemed fine with that fact... Ginko had changed from the outgoing boy he used to be. Ginko was now always calm, collected, silent... As if he was always deep into thought. This caused Ginko to have a rather odd aura about him, yet not a bad one, despite not being a good one either. Ginko was still a friendly man, toward anybody and everybody who deserved to be treated friendly and respectfully.

Ginko had taken command of his own squadron of elite fighters, of which he considered his new family. Ginko had wandered with his squad for many years, hardly ever returning to the Nightstalker's HQ, for unknown reasons. They all liked to wander and be together without other's, and only with this lot was Ginko ever even remotely talkative.
Sometime after a mission, Ginko and his squad had run across the one known as Takashi, who was cornered within the ruins of a city by soilders of the Malice Army, as well some brutes mixed in with the lot of barbarians. Ginko and his squad sat aside and watched for a time, witnessing the boy's capabilities. So not wanting to risk him dying, Ginko and his squad jumped in and helped kill off the lot, until they began to retreat. Ginko had taken the boy in as his student, and taught him a great many things. But one unpredictable night, they were ambushed and attacked by the Malice Army. The ambush was not lead by any captain, or even general of the Malice Army. The attack was lead by the Factions Chieftain himself..
Ginko took quick notice to the threat of the battle, and as such, sent Takashi away with the escort of two of Ginko's squadmates, while the rest stayed behind and fought for as long as they could. After several minutes of fighting them off as long as possible, Ginko was confronted by the Chieftain of the army, and clashed violently with him several times. Despite Ginko showing he could match, and possibly even defeat the Chieftain, the unexpected happened.. Ginko almost seemingly allowed himself to get jumped from the Chieftain from behind, and Ginko was sent flying into a building off toward the side, where he rammed through the wall and was never seen afterward.

Years after his apparent death, Ginko was reported seen on several occasions, but was never actually found. There was no body at the scene of his apparent death, but also nothing to prove he wasn't dead. So other than odd rumors on occasion of Ginko still being alive, he has to date been classified as KIA (Killed In Action), and has yet to officially confront anybody, or has been confronted by anyone that may know him. With one exception, that is...

Weapons: Ginko limits himself to the use of a single assault XM8 rifle, and then two AMT AutoMag III pistols, of which is backed by the enhancements he uses with his elemental mastery. Such as he uses his wind to help speed or direct the direction of the bullet. Water to help muffle the sound, and earth to help give himself a barrier to fire from in the state of range-on-range combat.

"War brings sorrow... but we must fight to keep our loved ones from sorrow."

    ◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶

Restless footsteps and noises came from a slight distance in the woods that Takashi's back faced. Bushes shivering, the wind blowing with a gentle breeze, the cool wind blowing against the two of them and had a familiar feel about it when Takashi felt it.
Suddenly, a figure would leap out of the bushes, it was a brute. The beast flung it's head around violently as if attempting to find something, it suddenly locked eyes with Takashi and the other. The brute grinned violently and charged them, but before they could kill it themselves, several bullets would fling from the direction the brute had charged from, the bullets implanting themselves into the beast's flesh, as a familiar figure emerged soon after the brute collapsed to the ground from the shots, the white-haired male approaching the brute, pressing the barrel of his pistol to the brute's head, and just as the brute went to react, a final bullet was released from the chamber into the beast's head, falling to the ground as the familiar man bent down, tearing something from the beast's right grip, appearing to be a stone of some value. -- "Damn thing was almost too much trouble than it is worth..." -- The man mumbled.

The male slowly turned after pocketing the stone, his single right eye locked on Takashi and the other with him, his left eye covered by his bangs. The man had a blank expression for a moment, then slowly raised his right hand, giving a single short motion of his hand in the sense of a wave, and cracked a very slim and lazy smile.

"Howdy.." -- Was all he had to say to them. The man obviously knew Takashi, and no doubt Takashi's reaction would be in the same sense.

(I was thinking we would go ahead and make this the start where Takashi first learns that Ginko is still alive. We won't say he already does. So give a surprised feel to your reply if you could.)

Ginko rubbed the back of his head slightly with his left hand while he slowly lowered his right from the waving motion, his lazy smile slowly fading back into his basic, blank face as he stared back at Takashi for a few moments, suddenly breaking the silence.

"How'ya been kid?" -- Was all he could think of, despite the last few years of not seeing one another.
But this was how Ginko was.. He was simple, and did not care for too much detail. He asked simple questions and would expect simple answers. It was rare that Ginko ever got into detail about anything. Even his mission briefings and reports are usually always straight to the point and extinct of any detailed information that would even be considered notable. He adds everything that he deems necessary - Which is a very little amount of anything normally - and he would turn it in as it was.

Despite this side of him, Ginko is actually a very intelligent individual. In fact, he helped invent most the technology the Nighstalker's use to their advantage in today's common battles. As well he has aided in recovering some of the old world's technology by helping repair and reconstruct them. Ginko was a 'handy-man' and enjoyed working on mechanics. Yet he always seemed wary of cyborgs and A.I.'s...

    Ginko gave a lazy shrug.

"So did I... But I didn't... Surprise?" -- Was his slightly sarcastic, more or less smart-ass reply as he cracked another one of his usual slim and lazy smiles.

    ◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶

"Around... Here and there... Here again, and sometimes there on occasion.." -- He replied in a half mumble, rubbing the back of his neck as he slowly looked around the general area for a few brief moments, then slowly turned his gaze back toward Takashi, lowering his hand from his neck and placed it into his pocket, plucking a very thin, Japanese origin cigarette from his pocket and placing it into his mouth, plucking a lighter from his other pocket and lighting the tip of the cigarette, taking a slight draft of it after lighting it, exhaling the smoke peacefully without removing the cigarette from his mouth, he simply took a draft from one side of his mouth, and exhaled out the other side.

The smell of the cigarette was not like that of the usual stench that most people did not particularly care for. In fact, it had a rather pleasant smell to it. It had a slight minty scent to it, and masking most of the minted scent was like that of spring seasoned cinnamon. If it didn't require a light, and didn't look like a cigarette, most people who smelled it would mistake it for candy of some sort.

Ginko simply took a couple more puffs of the cigarette, until at least a quarter of it was now dissolved to ash. He slowly pulled it from his mouth, flicking off some lingering decay of the cigarette, and then simply placed it back at the side of his mouth before looking toward Takashi once again with his blank expression.

"So then... What has you this far East kid?" -- Ginko asked casually, as if ignoring the fact that he had just bumped into his old student, who thought him dead before now, and no doubt has countless questions.

    ◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶

"Old man-Yama has you running about hm? I remember when that used to be me doin-" -- Ginko was then cut off from the sounds of rustling in the bushes, turning his head slightly, just enough to keep his eyes on who or what may or may not come through. His hand was resting on one of his pistols in his coat, awaiting for something to pop out that would require him to sling his gun out and pop out a couple more rounds...

Upon the appearance of the tribal looking female that was clearly human, Ginko simply exhaled another puff of smoke slowly, turning his head back around and removing his hand from his pistol. He slowly gripped the end of the cigarette that was in between his lips, pulling the cigarette from his mouth with it now in between his index and middle finger. He slowly turned around, now facing the female, his other hand wedged into his coat pocket and the other resting passively at his side, the cigarette slowly and gradually burning out.

"You said you are a merchant? That's wonderful, that will save me the complicated trip all the way back to the South to sell this thing..." -- Ginko said, slowly plucking the gem-like stone from his pocket. It had a shimmer of pure, metallic silver when in direct sunlight, to where it almost looked like a colored glass. Yet the center of the transparent silver rock was that of a single perfectly round, jet-black sphere that had very small sparkling lights all around it.
Ginko slowly held it up in the palm of his hand, showing it to the merchant girl who had exited the woods.

"I will be willing to sell, or trade... As long as the offer is within a reasonable high average, seeing as this is no common rock..." -- Ginko said in a half mumble, the stone's silver-like shimmer and glow visible from each party that was within the general area such as Takashi and his companion as well the merchant.

Ginko had decided to follow the tribal merchant, his cigarette now in his mouth again and his other hand wedged back into his pocket with the gem stone. Ginko slowly plucked the cigarette from his mouth briefly, exhaling some smoke then placed it back in.

"A herbalist hmm..? I take it you excel in medical remedies then? If so.. I will take a dozen mixture of Ginkgo biloba, saffron threads, and stinging nettle.. Gather me these and put them into the form of a powdered substance, each type of herb separate of course, and I will see to it this gem's next owner is you..." -- Ginko explained his terms to her in his calm, half-mumble toned voice as he took another draft from his cigarette, very casually exhaling it from the other side of his lips as he continued to follow a fair distance behind the female, noticing some slight examples of her been weary of him, and understanding it, as he was in the same state of mind toward her..

    ◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶

Ginko returned Takashi's glance after he had asked if he would like to travel with them. Ginko slightly looked up toward the sky, rubbing the side of his head slowly with the hand he had removed slowly from his pocket, taking a small puff of his cigarette that was now done for. Ginko acted surprised at first by the finishing of his cigarette, as if he didn't notice that so much time had passed already, or at least enough time for his entire cigarette to burn out to nearly risking the burn of his lip. He disposed of the lifeless bud of the cigarette, then pulled another from his pocket and lit it in his mouth again, continuing his occasional draft-and-puff.

Ginko took a single inhale of it first, before exhaling the smoke and returning his gaze toward the further trail in front of him.
" 'Not sure to be honest... I suppose there would be no real harm in tagging along for a little while, but to be perfectly honest, I would like to maintain the 'deceased' life.. I've been enjoying it thus far.. After spending ninety-percent of my life with the Faction and leading rookies around all day everyday, it has come as a nice change in pace for me, being able to go where I want, when I want with whomever I want, without needing it justify my movements to some higher rank..." -- Ginko explained slowly, during certain parts of his explanation he had taken another draft or two of his cigarette, exhaling the smoke slowly shortly afterwards.

"But I suppose that doesn't mean it has to stop me from tagging along for a time.. At least until I find myself closer to a place I need to head toward..." -- Ginko concluded more toward himself than anyone else.

Upon entering into the camp-like area and noticing the merchant woman running off toward another tribal female whom she exclaimed in excitement toward, Ginko took to putting two and two together and determined that the now other female was the cousin of the merchant girl he had made the deal with. Ginko brought himself to a slow and casual stop a few paces away from the two of them, slowly pulling his cigarette from his mouth with his index and middle finger, holding it at his side as he glanced at two female's.

"You must be the cousin I've heard so much about..." -- Ginko mentioned in his half-mumble tone. -- "As well my apologies for not introducing myself earlier.. Here we've made trading deals and you even were graceful enough to offer up your identity to me, and yet I've given you no name to address me by..." -- Ginko mentioned after rubbing the side of his head with his free hand, smiling his lazy and slim smile as he slowly lowered his hand from the side of his head. -- "I am Ginko Mudorashi. Wanderer, trader, and on occasion hired hand for protection... It's a pleasure to meet folk who have not changed their ways so dramatically, simply because this new God-awful world seemingly demands it from anybody and everybody..." -- Ginko said in his calm and mellow toned voice, that was clear as day, word for word to hear. He slowly took another drag of his cigarette, exhaling the smoke after removing it from his mouth once again. Ginko seemed to keep it from his mouth when in the presence of new folk. Whether or not this was a form of formality in his mind, or simple respect in regards to not having something in his mouth when talking or addressing someone new to him.

    ◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶◀▶

Ginko simply allowed himself to be scanned by the new female, taking another draft of his cigarette while she did so and exhaled the smoke, flicking off any lingering decay from the tip and to the ground. Ginko would step on anything that looked to have an ignite still on the ground, ensuring that it would not cause any unwanted flames.
He slowly returned his gaze to the female for a moment, then slowly turned his gaze outward toward his side.

"Change is inevitable, that is true.. Life continues on and the world keeps on spinning, and along with time and advancement comes adaptation and evolving. All of this is inevitable, that is true.. To change who you are, how you live, how you function is all things that eventually come with time and advancement of life. Yet to change ones culture, beliefs and what is to them right and wrong, is a change that never should have to be made.." -- Ginko explained his viewpoint on the subject, slowly taking another inhale of his cigarette, making it nice and long until the entirety of the cigarette was now burnt out to a bud. He slowly flicked it to the ground in front of him, taking his foot and stepping on it to ensure it burnt out.

"You are tribal. Thus meaning you are a people, united by ties of descent from a common ancestor, community of customs and traditions, adherence to the same leaders, common beliefs, everything of which are things that make you who you are. Sure you can change how you live, where you live, and your reasoning for living, but you should never have to change who you are, simply because a disaster demands it... So many good people have become mass-murderers, simply because they could not live otherwise in this world.. They have had to kill, steal, lie and cheat in order to survive in this new world.. All things that change a person, and affect so many others..." -- Ginko described his viewpoints on 'change'. It was unclear if he was being more logical about the subject or if he had more personal feelings and opinions toward it. All the same, he didn't seem to be trying to prove a point, more or less simply desired to give his view on a subject that seems to be all too common these days...

Ginko turned toward Cainon, waiting for him to finish his ramble before Ginko simply closed his one visible eye, giving a brief pause between him and the boy to ensure he was done before he made attempt to reply.

"To change who you are because you feel it is right for yourself is to evolve... To change who you are because someone or something such as a happening demands it of you, then it is to throw away who you are for the sake of something as simple as to survive... Must you sacrifice everything about your life, to save it...?" -- Ginko countered with his end question, slowly plucking a cigarette from his pocket once again and placing it in between his lips, taking a lighter from his pocket and went to ignite it, having troubles in doing so, but he continued talking anyhow while he continued to attempt to get it to light.

"Ones mind set and idealism of what is right and wrong does not simply change for anybody or anything.. And it never should, other than for the one who is in control of it all. To believe you must change for the sake of surviving is to believe it is not for the better, but because it is considered necessary... Based upon the tone in your voice you understand that.. You changed because you felt you had to, not because you wanted to... You changed to something you never thought you would have to be, and yet you are... And that obviously upsets you, despite your assuming mellow minded and goofy-styled appearance of nature.." -- Ginko mumbled from behind his cigarette, eventually striking a light from his lighter as relief drew from his eyes, slowly lighting the tip as he took a slow inhale of it, exhaling it from his mouth slowly afterward.

"You say I have had a 'golden life' huh..." -- Ginko echoed the other's assumption of him softly, yet it was easily heard. Ginko was facing the opposite direction of Cainon for a few moments, then slowly turned toward him. Ginko slowly raised his left hand, brushing his bangs from covering his left eye. His eye was seen shut, as a normal eye looked when shut. But upon opening his eye, all that was seen as that of an empty, black void that looked from the outside to be without an end. After a few moments of his eye being opened, black smoke slowly began to steam from his eye. Ginko simply took a draft of his cigarette, exhaling it slowly, the mixture of grey smoke into the black as he simply stood for a few moments, allowing those around to have a moment to notice the mystery of his eye..

Ginko slowly closed his eye again, brushing his bangs back into place once again.
"You speak as if you know of my life, my history, my past... Yet you know no more of me than I do you... We all have had to make changes to ourselves for the necessity of survival... But what seems to be the case, more than not, is when is it too much...? Many people have changed beyond the point of necessity.. They change and think it is not enough.. They feel it is necessary to change into something they are not, and do not deserve to be... They become monsters in the shape of humans sometimes.. All in the name of surviving..." -- Ginko explained slowly, ensuring that it could sink in as he knew the fact that the boy's mind was only moments ago clouded with emotions, and very likely still was. Ginko simply exhaled more smoke. -- "I am not saying change is a bad thing... In fact, change can ultimately be an entirely beneficial thing, and sometimes to more than simply the one who is changing... But what is wrong, is to change because you believe it is necessary to survive, not because you feel it will better your life, rather than simply save it..."

Ginko slowly finished the cigarette he had taken out at the beginning of his conversation with Cainon, turning to Takashi after hearing his conclusion of what was now going to be happening. Ginko slowly pushed his hands into his pockets, looking around at those around, and seeing as Takashi was not answering the volley of questions the tribal woman had, he simply decided to answer them for her.

"Yes, there are more of us, about 300,000 more to be a little bit more specific... Maybe even more, I am not sure. I haven't done a head count.. The Faction normally does send out squadrons built of soldiers from it's ranks, the members of each squad being built of many different ranks and people.. Only certain squadrons are ever kept under tracking, it also depends on the mission or patrol they are tasked. It is always nice to have more supplies, and we will no doubt be passing by quite a few groups of folk, seeing as we are heading East-land, we'll no doubt be crossing the main road for caravan traveling.. So you'll have plenty of opportunity for trade." -- Ginko explained and replied with brief detail to each yet an answer to each all the same.

Ginko had once again drawn yet another cigarette from his pocket and lit it in his mouth, taking a drag of it then exhaling the smoke casually, noticing that everything was being put into motion.
He noticed that there was some debate over the camels, so he decided to attempt to help resolve the matter with some information of his own.

"We are going East, correct..? If that is indeed the case, we can travel through these woods and make our way to the main road that leads to the city of York. It is rare that attacks are reported from that road, as it is too popular and well guarded for many to dare try and attack at it.. We will be fine for mounted travel as long as we stay close to that road." -- Ginko explained, slowly exhaling some smoke from one side of his mouth, while the cigarette remained hanging from the other side, his hands wedged into the pockets of his coat while he began to slowly walk toward the female known as Maneki.

"Right, the trade. Do you have the bundles of herbs I requested? If so, the stone is yours.." -- Ginko said, slowly drawing his right hand from his pocket, the stone resting in between his index finger and thumb.

    Name: Unabara Ritoru

Age: 1380 (Appears to be in his mid-twenties)

    Gender: Male

    Species: Shinigami

Division: 7th Division Captain (Former 4th Division Lieutenant)

Appearance: Captain Unabara Ritoru looks like something straight out of a human modeling catalog. He stands at six feet two inches with blond, mussed up hair and dull blue eyes. His body is extremely well toned without being overbearing, unattractive, or brutish in any way, shape, or form. Those who knew him before his twin brother died spread tales of how flawless he used to look. His hair was always combed and kept, his cheeks never bore facial stubble, and his blue eyes were the brightest in Soul Society - his identical twin, the more aggressive of the two, had dulled his own beautiful eyes from battle before he passed away. Ritoru could still be considered one of the most attractive men in the Gotei 13, but in a more common, worn way. His hair is never kept and his face is never without a five o'clock shadow of dirty-blond stubble. A feature that sets his looks apart even more is his emotionally tide-locked face. There is an obvious pain behind his eyes; a broken spirit that doesn't seem to be healing. It's this look of ambivalence that truly sets him apart from others in his station.

Like many Captains before him, Ritoru heavily modified his uniform to better fit his personal sense of style and his powerful skills in Hakuda. The outer, white haori is sleeveless and just long enough in the back to reach his hips, making it look more like a loose vest than anything else. His black uniform is sleeveless as well. Ritoru's unclothed arms are bandaged in white gauze from the tips of his fingers to the middle of his biceps - a style that gives a window into his hand-to-hand method of combat. His lower garments are tighter that most other Shinigami to prevent excess cloth getting in the way of his movements. Where most would wear sandals or other footwear, Ritoru has wrapped his feet in the same white gauze that surrounds his toned arms. His Zanpakuto, Houtai, takes the form of a small dagger and is hidden away in his vest. While he rarely bothers to use the weapon, it matches his arms and feet; its grip is made of white gauze.

Personality: For most of his long life, Ritoru had a empathic link with his twin brother, Hasori. Through this link they shared experiences, emotion, talent, and even a spiritual world and Zanpakuto. When his brother died in a fight against the Espada, a piece of Ritoru died with him, leaving the Captain a shell of his former self. Where he was once a bright-eyed, energetic prodigy of healing and Hakuda, he now stands an emotionally troubled but wise individual who's unable to heal properly. Even his Zanpakuto is an incomplete half of its former self. Because of this, Ritoru has become an emotionally withdrawn and deeply troubled individual. His heart is still kind and gentle but it's obviously heavy with the weight of his missing link. Ritoru often hears or sees Hasori when he's alone; a remnant of the empathic link they once shared. While he doesn't let this disability impact his duties negatively, his social life is pretty much nonexistent past the professional level.

Abilities: Ritoru is a master of Hakuda. Using his vast medical knowledge, most of which he picked up during his many years as the 4th Division Lieutenant, Ritoru can pinpoint pressure points to disarm and paralyze his opponents during close-quarters-combat. This might be the greatest reason, along with his tremendous strength, that he is considered the reigning master of Hakuda in the Gotei 13. He initially aims to paralyze his opponents. If that doesn't work, he can easily kill most enemies by destroying vital organs with pin-point strikes. His skills with Shunpo allow him to move quickly both in and out of battle, but they aren't above the average for Captain level Shinigami. He retains most of his knowledge of healing Kido from his days in the 4th Squad, although he rarely utilizes these skills. His skills with other branches of Kido are more than respectable, especially since he no longer focuses primarily in healing arts. His abilities in Zanjutsu leave a lot to be desired, but it hardly impacts his performance as he never draws his unreleased Zanpakuto in battle. While he is capable of performing Shunko, Ritoru rarely does so because of the risk of over-exertion.

A unique skill of Ritoru's is the ability to use his Reiatsu to bolster the strength of his skin, much like the dreaded Hierro technique of the Arrancar. While most Captains can do something akin to this, Ritoru further increases the toughness of his form by channeling constant healing Kido throughout his muscles and dermal layers. His skin is tough enough to rival many of the Espada's Hierro. Lieutenant-class techniques and blades often hit his skin without cutting or leaving behind any damage. Captain-class threats are harder to deal with, and while Ritoru can block many weaker attacks from such foes, he cannot withstand focused strikes without sustaining injury. The 7th Division Captain usually uses this technique to bolster the capabilities of his Hakuda-centric fighting style. Since he does not use a Zanpakuto to block attacks, he usually relies on his tough skin to withstand strikes for him.

Zanpakuto: Houtai (Bandage) :: Houtai's unreleased form appears as a dagger with an eight inch blade. The short grip is roughly as long as Ritoru's hand is wide, and white gauze wraps around it, much like his uniformed arms and feet. One end of this gauze seems to be looser than the others. This loose bit of material is significant only to the activation of his Shikai. Very few have ever seen this weapon used in combat simply because of Ritoru's capabilities with Hakuda, which are far superior to his skills in Zanjutsu. The rest who have seen this unreleased Zanpakuto only witnessed it for a brief moment before Ritoru activated Shikai. Despite this, Ritoru always has the Houtai on his person in case he needs to utilize it.

Zanpakuto Spirit: Ritoru's inner world takes the form of a large, gorgeous field of half completed structures, fixtures, and plants. Flowers grow with only half of their petals, pagodas stand without roofs, and trees threaten to tip over with only fifty percent of a trunk supporting them. The inner world hasn't always been so mismatched and incomplete. These missing portions of Ritoru's spiritual world have only been gone since Hasori, his twin brother, died. With their empathic link and shared spiritual world, each of the two brothers created half of the structures within the field. Those who enter Ritoru's inner realm immediately feel a sense of crushing loneliness, no matter who they may be with at the time. Something simply seems... wrong. The wind that rustles the grass only makes half a sound. Any sentences spoken, even by Ritoru himself, seem to fade in and out as they're said, leaving bits and pieces inexplicably lost to the shattered realm.

Houtai takes the form of a black, featureless shadow of humanoid form. The shadow resembles a gaunt, tall human at least eight feet in height, only the form has no lower extremities. The legs and waist of Houtai belonged to the Zanpakuto spirit of Hasori. Since his death, the upper half of the two-part Zanpakuto spirit has been left alone. Most of Houtai's time is spent trying to heal the half-world that has been left behind. Unfortunately, each time he adds on to a structure, another part of it wears away. He can build a roof to a pagoda only to watch the supports fade into nothingness. Despite the futility, Houtai continues this mind-shattering task with never-ending ferocity. It treats all visitors as if they simply weren't there, and Houtai only seems to acknowledge Ritoru if the Captain attempts to join in the futility of fixing the inner world. Its personality is as broken as one might imagine - Houtai rarely finishes thoughts and it seems to be in a daydreaming nightmare. During Shikai release, Houtai's shape begins to bend violently and stretch as its mania increases. Once Bankai is released, the spirit literally disperses, covering the entire spiritual world in dark stripes of shadow that seem to fill in the missing pieces of the surrounding structures.

Shikai: To release his Shikai, Ritoru takes out his dagger and places it, blade upwards, in his left hand. His right hand then grabs hold of the loose piece of white gauze as he pulls it quickly down and around his waist, where he lets go, calling, "Stitch our wounds. Houtai." With a burst of Reiatsu the gauze-like material continues to twirl around Ritoru's midsection, stitching itself together as each new layer completes itself. Once the grip of the sword is unraveled, the blade, pommel, stock, and cross-guard themselves twirl into a cloth-like material and follow suit. The final product of this rapid stitching is a red and gray sarong. The cloth has a half dozen symbols of a black sun stitched into the center. The sarong appears to be tied around the Captain's waist, but he can quickly remove it and fold it between his arms as a manipulative melee weapon. Those who look upon the Shikai form of Houtai can see that it isn't complete. The sides of the weapon are torn and the colors seem to be running in certain places. This is due to the death of Ritoru's identical twin. Despite this, Houtai's Shikai form is as strong as any Captain-class Zanpakuto. It exudes a very pungent, sickly sweet aroma.

Hiyowai-Amai Musou (Sickly Sweet Reverie): This ability was originally named the Amai Musou (Sweet Reverie). The sarong constantly produced a sweet, pleasant smell that slowly healed the wounds of anyone within a few hundred feet; Ritoru included. Since the death of Ritoru's twin, this ability has gone haywire. The smell is still sweet, but it is no way redolent or healing. The sweet odor is so strong that it causes severe nausea in anyone nearby, twisting their senses as they retch from the inescapable scent. The closer one is to the sarong the more unbearable the smell is. From a hundred feet it smells horribly unpleasant - within ten feet the nausea can cause anything from severe vertigo to paralyzing stomach cramps. Ritoru is immune to this foul odor. He has also created a pill that can negate this ability in those who consume it - he always carries it with him in case of an emergency. The fumes coming from Houtai are biologically aggressive and cannot be stopped by simply holding one's breath. Despite their aggressive nature, the reeking stench cannot penetrate air-tight barriers.

Shinkouteki Kuroji (Spiritual Cloth): Houtai's Shikai form is as strong as any Captain-level Shikai. While other, more solid incarnations of Zanpakuto have the stoic durability of being blades, Houtai is just as resilient in terms of tensile strength. It cannot be cut or torn by normal strikes, nor is it particularly susceptible to fire or frost. The sarong is without a cutting edge and cannot slash or pierce the skin of an opponent, despite this tensile strength. It can, however, be used to disarm or entrap enemy weapons with the help of Ritoru's hand-to-hand skills. By spreading the sarong out like a wall-shaped blanket, Ritoru is capable of blocking all but the more powerful elemental or kido-related strikes of an opponent. When doing so, he loses the offensive ability of the weapon until he can wrap it around his arms again.

Bankai: Houtai no Futatsu Taiyou (Healing Bandage that Binds the Two Suns): To unleash the final, incomplete form of Houtai, Ritoru grabs hold of both ends of his sarong. With a violent scream and an enormous spike of his Reiatsu he rips the weapon apart, spreading massive amounts of the disgusting aroma into the surrounding air. The strips of torn material float momentarily before grasping hold of various parts of Ritoru's body. Both of his feet, his knees, waist, midsection, chest, shoulders, elbows, and both of his hands are wrapped tightly by single strips of the broken sarong. Even his neck and forehead are wrapped by separate strips of the gray/red cloth, one appearing like a scarf and the other like a headband. Each piece of cloth trails a foot or two behind Ritoru as he moves, much like a jellyfish's stinging tentacles. Any remaining pieces of the torn sarong that haven't attached themselves to Ritoru disintegrate into the atmosphere, fueling the Hiyowai-Amai Musou with even more sickly power. Once the strips have all attached themselves, Ritoru sheds two tears - one out of the corner of both of his blue eyes - that drip down his face and neck and leave straight black lines in their wake. Once his tears have been shed he looks up and says, "Bankai. Houtai no Futatsu Taiyou." While in this form Ritoru's physical capabilities - Hakuda, Hoho, Shunko, and his version of the "Hierro" - are all increased massively, making him an incredibly potent melee fighter.

Shouheki no Outai Tsuin (Barrier of the Lone Twin): This used to be named the Shouheki no Yangu Tsuin (Barrier of the Young Twin), but that was before Ritoru's brother died. Back then the technique allowed the strips of cloth to connect with the Bankai of Ritoru's brother, Hasori, granting each an additional ability that has long since been rendered completely inaccessible. Now that the other Zanpakuto and it's wielder no longer exist, this technique causes the strips to surround and protect the only twin left; Ritoru. The cloth tentacles are animated and attempt to grab at whatever is nearby in order to activate Ritoru's other Bankai ability and bring them into submission. These strips of cloth have the tensile strength of a strong Captain-class Zanpakuto, so breaking free is extremely difficult. They also have the strength to launch or throw caught targets at blinding speeds. The Bankai form of Ritoru's Zanpakuto is also capable of creating walls of intertwined strips of cloth that can block incoming ranged attacks. Up close the Shouheki no Outa Tsuin is primarily offensive in nature - it retracts to a defensive mode for ranged battles or when it senses that Ritoru's life may be in grave danger..

Heika no Togetogeshii Kokuei (Arms of the Stinging Shadow): Much like the Hiyowai-Amai Musou and the Shouheki no Outai Tsuin, this technique functions differently than when Ritoru's twin was alive. It used to be named the Tesaki no Nagoyaka Meikyou (Fingers of the Gentle Shade). Anyone touched by one of the tentacle-like strips of cloth would find themselves quickly healing and, in some cases, becoming massively stronger for a short amount of time. This technique is now nothing but destructive. Individuals who get caught in the Bankai's cloth strips are subjected to horrible pain wherever they're grasped. To Captain-class individuals this pain is difficult to manage, but will not cause severe sensory overload or fatal injury unless multiple strips connect. Weaker, Lieutenant-class enemies might die from the overwhelming nature of the pain from just one instance of contact. In a final attempt to finish a powerful foe, Ritoru can overload the strips of cloth with all of his spiritual energy, transferring the pain into realms only legendary opponents could survive. This leaves Ritoru with no energy for himself, causing him to pass out, or, if his injuries were severe enough, die.

Welcome to the world of Desolation! Where everything is empty, yet filled with mystery, questions with nothing more than theoretical answers, and a stream of infinite worlds.. Time flows and with it, the constant branching of other world lines. For every happening there is something else that transpires in another world line that takes its place its own happening, further influencing the ideal theory that the possibilities of infinite worlds is in fact true..

With the concept of time, multiple worlds and infinite possibilities, this leads us to the long investigated theory, of time travel...
Time travel is a mass theory that has plagued the greatest minds of science for decades, and despite the extremely stretched out time period and unending effort put toward the attempt at answering what appears to be the unanswerable, the traveling through time has yet to be discovered as an actual possibility, yet it is still considered plausible, despite the lack of scientific evidence. But simply because we've yet to discover anything yet, does not mean it stops us from continuing to push the attempt and answering what is so far considered the unanswerable...

For many years, a variety of different individuals, groups, organizations and corporations have attempted at solving the theorized concept of time travel. Thus far, not a one of them have discovered more than what is already known, and to this day the theory is left to just that, a theory, an idea - no, a dream! - that is still without scientific answers..

However, the Desolate;Lab shall be the first to uncover these answers to the unanswered. We shall combine our minds, and further advance humanity's knowledge and comprehending of the concept of time travel!

    Name: Takumi Kibukawa
    Age: 32
    Gender: Male
    Appearance:

Takumi Kibukawa is a middle aged man of science. He has youthful black hair of shoulder length that he generally keeps bundled up in a pony tail. He has green eyes, and generally prefers to limit his wardrobe to that of a simple grey shirt and pants that he keeps held up not by a belt but by suspenders, and over his basic wearing he wears the classical lab coat, of which he claims is the signature of a scientist, and all great minds of science should wear one.

Personality: Takumi is a collected minded, yet eccentric individual. He is a self proclaimed "Genius of the era", and expresses so enthusiastically, yet few times has he bothered to try and prove that it is in fact the case. He takes no "pleasure" in taking part in contests against other minds in order to try and "prove" that he is intelligent, yet he has no remorse in bragging about the grand discovers he makes on a near regular basis.

Takumi usually gives off the impression of being delusional and paranoid, engaging in strange mannerisms such as talking to himself about things that plague his mind such as personal drama and thoughts that cross near insanity, this is in fact a facade he wears in order to make life interesting for his fellow lab members. Initially, he portrays himself as being rather arrogant. However, many people believe that this is due to Takumi's eccentricities and social awkwardness.

Despite the aforementioned traits, he is actually a kind and caring individual. This is particularly evident towards his fellow lab members.
    Position: Founder of the Desolate;Lab
Personal View on Time Travel: In this universe, time is ultimately nothing more than a variable that can be solved and equated. However, one thing that we all foolishly misinterpret is that time in itself is infinite.. Where we constantly think that everything has a beginning and an end, the one thing that will never stop is the flow of time. Some things may cause us to feel that time flows quicker or the exact opposite of a slower pace. But all of that interpretation of time is in fact nothing more than our view of it in our heads. Where we feel it passing slower or faster, it is in reality passing at the same time frame, just at a different rate to each individual mind. Because of this, is the sole reason why we have yet to solve the long theoretical concept of time travel.. Once we can learn and understand how time functions in our reality and in that to our own minds, only then can we possibly hope to process the possibility of time travel..

That considered, time travel is infinite. This meaning that there is an infinite amount of possibilities occurring in an unimaginable and uncountable amount of timelines and world lines. Because of this, everything that will happen, can happen or could happen, is in fact happening in one world or another. This further influences the idealism of multiple worlds existing, worlds that with time travel does not back around in a single one, but in fact is nothing more than the creation of a vehicle that provides transportation between each world line..

Ooc~: Alright then, the role play shall commence! Apologies for the late start based on what I announced would be the start time. But now is better then never, no? :3

    ________________________________

The year was that of 2010, July 19th. A local convention of science was being held, where minds ranging from the simplest to the greatest came to share and discuss theories, hypothesis'. The convention took place at least twice a year. One in the summer, and one in winter. This convention held discussions and meetings on some of the world's most plaguing theories and questions of science. One of which was the most common theory of time travel..

But discussion and interviews of renowned scientists aside, this convention was also permitting newly founded groups, labs and/or organizations to come and recruit men and women who would have interest in taking part in the specific field of scientific investigation that this group/lab/organization takes part in. There are those who work together to answer questions about space and it's vast mystery, others who desire only to learn from those they work with, and intend to do so by building a group of minds that they can dig from and feed to their own knowledge.

At this gathering, in the booth recruiting level of the convention, a very simple, undecorated booth stood with nothing more than a simple white sheet placed over the table top, a sign across the front of the booth that says "Desolate;Lab Recruitment Center", along with a clipboard sitting in the center of the table, along with a basket of folders and files at the side, while behind the table was a single man wearing circular/oval lens glasses, a simple, casual faint smile upon his lips as he sat with his hands resting on top of each other passively on the table as he watched people come and go from one booth to another. He seemed as if he was in his own little world, yet wasn't lost in it.

Takumi twitched an eyebrow only briefly before he then sighed softly, brushing his fingers through his long hair as he then snatched the application from the female's hands. He slowly scanned through it, then took notice to her answer toward the "view on time travel" portion, twitching an eyebrow once again as he then slowly brought his hand to his lips, clearing his throat as he sighed softly, as if attempting to relax himself.

"So then, you do not believe in the possibility of time travel..? Quite common I suppose yet not exactly what I am looking for.. You see the Desolate;Lab is in fact dedicated to the advancement of our knowledge on the theory of time travel. Meaning if you do not dedicate your heart mind and soul to the attempt in uncovering the secrets of time travel, then I cannot use you, I am afraid.." He explained, slowly extending his hand with the application back toward the female.

"As for you though, Miss.." He slowly turns his head to the other's application as if to identify her.

"... Naomi Takara? I see you have quite the view when it comes to time travel. And as such, I welcome you to the Desolate;Lab, lab member#002!" He said enthusiastically as he stood from his seat, extending his hand out to the female to shake her hand.

Takumi sighed softly as he rubbed the back of his head, watching as Akumi walks out of the convention. He then slowly turns his gaze toward Naomi once again as he smiled.

"Sorry 'bout that, your friend I mean.. This lab is solely dedicated to discovering time travel. In other words, those who do not dedicate their heart mind and soul to this project, I fear they may only waste my time. But anyway.. Tell me about yourself, Naomi Takara. Now that we'll be working together, it will be best to get better acquainted."

Takumi sighed softly as he rubbed the back of his head, slowly sitting back into his seat as he stared up toward the ceiling. He then blinked as he stood up, realizing that he did not have any means to E-mail her the information, seeing as he did not get any of her contact information.

Takumi quickly went to go chase after her, but then remembered that all of his personal belongings were just sitting out at this booth. He grumbled as he swiftly and panictly wrapped everything up, bagging it up as he then picked up the crate of files and began to run with them, a pen bit down between his lips as he ran frantically toward the exit he noticed her leave out of. He flung his head from side to side, noticing that she was already gone. He lowered his head in frustration as he groaned from behind the pen, noticing he didn't need to carry it like that as he then spit it into the bin of files.

"Dammit.. Now how am I going to get ahold of her..?" He mumbled, glancing around as he then took notice to the other's applications that sat on top of the bin, her contact information on the application.

"... Did.. they do this on purpose..!?" He exclaimed in frustration as he growled afterward, returning to his lab that stood only a simple apartment on the fourth story of a apartment building. The apartment was so simple that it had no individual room, besides a bathroom and laundry room. The kitchen, living room and the "lab" was all a single room, no walls or doors blocking any of these three categories apart.
Takumi sat in his chair, leaning back in it in relaxation as he then glanced once again as the application on the table with the contact information on it. He thought for a few moments before he then sighed in defeat.

"What a pain in the ass.." He said, slowly leaning forward as he pulled out his phone, pulling the paper toward him as he began to dial the contact number that was written down, then began to type out a text message.

"Hey.. it is Takumi Kibukawa.. Sorry to bother you.. I did not get your friends contact info.. Mind sending it to me at this number.. Thanks.." He said as he slowly said everything he was typing into the text message, then glanced through it as he then hit send on the message, slowly leaning back as he sighed, as if he just did something that was the hardest thing to do.
